For 101 years, Komet has been committed to supporting dentists and lab technicians in the preservation and replacement of their patients’ natural dentition through a world-class portfolio of rotary instruments, equipment, and materials. 



Komet was founded in 1923 in Dusseldorf, Germany by the Brasseler brothers. With their expert knowledge in dentistry and ingenuity, their small business grew into what is now one of the largest and most respected manufacturers of rotary instruments in the dental industry.

Our Products

 

Over 101 years, Komet’s offerings have significantly evolved and expanded. Komet now provides the dental sector with a range of rotary instruments, equipment and materials that help preserve and replace natural dentition. 


The complete range includes standard instruments like traditional round burs, crown cutters, composite removers, polishers, endodontic files and more. Komet also offers innovative, one-of-a kind instruments like DIAO, a diamond designed with pearls, Deep Purple Diamonds, the coarsest diamond on the market, Q-Finishers, 2-step composite finishing carbides, and more. 
 

  
 

All rotary instruments are designed by engineers and dentists, backed by research and development, undergo rigorous testing and are produced at the Komet HQ in Lemgo, Germany.  

Komet constantly strives to improve existing products and to develop completely new, innovative products for the dental sector.  

Some of Komet’s most notable achievements include the following:  

  • Launching tungsten-carbide instruments in 1956.

  • Producing its first range of diamond instruments in 1958, which quickly became the gold standard.

  • Including ceramic abrasives in 1960.

  • Developing systematic instrument sets and replacing steel burs with tungsten carbide in the 1970s.

  • Creating tungsten-carbide burs with staggered toothing in 1980.

  • Being the first manufacturer to launch ceramic burs and drills in 2003.

  • Launching Deep Purple™ diamonds in 2016, the coarsest diamonds on the market.

  • Expanding its product line to include endodontic solutions in 2020.
